AU where Mulder and Scully travel to Hawkins, Indiana. Hopper had heard of them, in the same way that local law enforcement in sleepy small towns had somehow always heard of Mulder and Scully. He knew, if anyone could help him, they could.
Mulder believes Joyce right away, Scully goes on and on about electrical power surges and the near impossibilities of true parallel universes. But her protests are halfhearted, she’s fifty years old and can’t possibly just wash her hands of all of this anymore. She knows how this goes, how this will turn out.
But she doesn’t truly, TRULY believe it until late one night, after the lights went out again, and Joyce tells her: “Your Will is down there, too.” (x)
